Fleet round up section

March Thiercelin has made 111 miles towards the finish line in 24 hours. While this is not a great number, he has managed to make 3į of longitude toward France.  He is plenty far north, he just really need to sail east to the finish.  Accordingly Active Wear should finish early in the work week.

The next pair has UBP leading Sobedo by 39 miles.  Sobedo is the faster boat at last report.

Skipper Communications

Marc Thiercelin Active Wear ". Sunday would have been nice, but Iíll make it in tomorrow. Looking at the Maxsea routing software my course seems rather incredulous, but I really couldnít tack before! Iíve tried explaining to the sea that she has to let me get home, but she wonít listen to reasonÖNormally Iím like Ellen, I donít like coming in, and prefer to continue, but for once I am so desperate to get in!"

Catherine Chabaud Whirlpool "Days like today give me a reason to stay here at sea! I took 78 miles from Dominic last night and 53 on Thomas Ė great! Itís not over yet. Those two didnít get a chance in the anticyclone. The boat is just in fine form despite the rudder problem in the South and the keel at the start. We are just about to traverse another ridge of weak winds and after that it will be upwind all the way home."

Dominique Wavre UBP ". My sails are okay, so-so, you can see the sun through my genoa and the main sail is a little worn, but Iím going to get this boat home in one piece! Itís been quite tough this battle with Thomas, weíll finish in true Figaro style!"

Yves Parlier Aquitaine Innovations "Iíve been sailing at 2 Ė 3 knots for a couple of hours, which isnít great, but then itís good to have a break from the strong winds for a bit. In these light airs Iím well under canvassed. Iíve got 3 days or so before I reach the trade winds if Iím lucky."

Current Weather UBP and Sobedo good beam breezes.

Weather Forecast A number of light air minefields between Thiercelin and the finish.

What does it all mean

Conditions are still mixed not making easy sailing for any of the fleet.
