 Olympic Sailing: Pre Regatta News

What would a high profile sailing regatta be without controversy?  In the lead up to the Olympic regatta there have been issues.

One controversy was over the trampoline on the Australian Tornado catamaran.  The trampoline is fabric that is stretched between the 2 hulls.

The Australian boat has a trampoline full of holes allowing water to drain quicker.  During the measurmant process this new age trampoline was rejected.

Essentially the Australians used a net like material rather than the more typical canvas type material.  The netting type material is not allowed as it allows air to pass through meaning the Australians would have a more stable less likely to capsize catamaran.

As the Mistral sailboards were measured in over half were found to have overweight masts.
