Today's Sailing NewsQueens Cup : Fleet goes fast on starboard tack
Update: Bantu, the Block Island 41 owned by Thomas Kuber of Menominee MI has again won the Queens Cup. Bantu's winning corrected time margin was 12 minutes. The 2000 Queens Cup was sailed under pleasant and fast conditions. The fleet spent the race on starboard tack under a variety of sail conditions. Boats adjusted sail combinations from outboard led genoas, to asymmetrical spinnakers and occasional downwind spinnakers. Deep Powder, a CM 60 was the first boats to finish. Unofficially Deep Powder crossed from Milwaukee to Grand Haven in 6 hours. This equates to a double digit average speed. Although handicap results have not yet been released it's assumed that waterline length will tell. Last years winner Baccahnt finished with or ahead of boats owing her time. When results are released Sailing Daily will provide further coverage. |
