The Race: Prologue Cancelled
The prologue event scheduled for this weekend in Monaco has been canceled. Primary reason for cancellation was that only two entrants have made it to the Mediterranean.
Team Adventure had been on the way. When the Prologue was cancelled they made port in Corogne, France.
However, crossing the Bay of Biscay sailing dead upwind in 40 knots was a good test. Skipper Cam Lewis reported: "We had time this morning to make a safety check and no problem was detected. Sailing upwind in a gale is not the boat’s favorite condition as you may guess. At least it makes for a good test and so far so good, except for some minor details.”
Sydney Hobart/Telestra Cup
26 December is the date for this years 630 mile race from Sydney Australia to Hobart. Leading up to this regatta is the Telestra Cup 13-17 December off Sydney.
This year the Telestra Cup is serving as part of the selection trials for the Australian Admirals Cup team. The Farr 40's will sail 8 windward/leeward races off Sydney Head's. Also sailing will be several teams competing for the Sydney 40 slot on the team.
Also sailing will be Philippe Kahn and his Pegasus team. They won the first phase of the American Farr 40 trials and will be sailing a new Australian built Farr 40 as part of their training program.

Team Philips: Salvage Issues
Team Philips is still adrift in the Atlantic Ocean. The crew left numerous warps streaming to impede the boats progress.
Now added to Team Philips list of problems is salvage. For one, they have to find a salver who can do the job.
For another, they must find the boat before another group does. Any party finding Team Philips would could claim salvage rights. For instance a fishing trawler salvaging Team Philips could net a significant portion of the yachts value.
