It's Chicago to Mackinac Time

This Saturday, July 10th is the start date for the annual Chicago to Mackinac race sponsored
by Chicago Yacht Club.  This is the race's 101st anniversary.  Subtracting races not run
in war years this is the 93rd sailing of the 333 mile race.

Beginning at 1200 central the 300 boats will start off Chicago's Monroe Street harbor.  The final
start will occur around 1500 central.

To see who will be racing visit our 1999 Mac Page. We have the entry list sorted by the following categories
Boat Name, Rating, Sail Number, Yacht Type, and by Division (IMS or PHRF).

Torresen Sailing Site and Sailing Daily will provide an additional preview of the Mac Race on Thursday.  Over
the weekend Torresen Sailing Site will report on the Mac as information becomes available.

Foncia Falls Short

The west to east transatlantic record set by Serge Madec sailing Jet Services V
in June of 1990 lives on.  The 60 foot trimran Foncia Immoblier skippered
by the Bourgnon brothers and Cam Lewis fell short.  As of 2235 eastern
last nite, Foncia reported: "the game is over."

Foncia had a tremendous crossing, but in the end was stopped by light
upwind conditions over the last 200 miles.
