Playstation: Deadline for record attempt nears
Playstation remains Code Yellow. The most likely time for a departure on the transatlantic record is 11-13 December.
If this window fails the deadline for Playsation to leave on a record attempt will near. This deadline is 16 December. If suitable weather does not develop by then, Playstation will be delivered to England and not attempt a record breaking passage.
Early in 2000 Playstation will make an attempt at the Jules Verne Around the World Record. To do so properly Playstation must leave early in 2000. As the round the world record is the campaigns number one goal, priority will be given to it.
If suitable weather does not develop look for Playstation to leave December 13th on a Transatlantic delivery to England. On a delivery Playsation will look to go south of low pressure and north of high pressure minimizing the risk of getting caught up in a storm. A delivery is expected to take 10 days.
As a result of weeks of waiting, Mother Nature holds the key to whether we will see one of the new maxi cats go offshore and stretch her legs in competition against the clock.
2000 Lake Michigan Calendar
We are currently in the process of confirming dates for the 2000 edition of our Lake Michigan Sailing Calendar. You can pick up the calendar at the 2000 Strictly Sail boat show February 3-6 in Chicago.
We would like to make sure that the 2000 edition is an inclusive as possible. One way to do so is to include one design class championships that will be sailed on or around Lake Michigan this year. We are already aware of the 210 Nationals in Gull Lake. If you know of a class championship visiting Lake Michigan this year please let us know.
