True Story

In 1886, in Sheboygan, just 60 miles north of here, Milwaukee Ale House co-proprietor Mike Bieser’s Great Great Uncle Louie was cracked of the head with a beer glass and killed. No one knows why. Was it over a woman? A Horse? A business deal gone sour? A debt? An insult? A crazy accident? Or was it over a Regatta???

In honor of Great Great Uncle Louie and the third anniversary of the Milwaukee Ale House, we present Louie’s Thirst Last Regatta.

In 1999 and 2000, our first (the very last) and second regatta proved to be so successful we are proud to extend the sailing season once again this year and also help raise money for Children’s Hospital. Funds from the proceeds of the regatta will be donated to Children’s Hospital. This is a regatta which would make Louie proud.

THE LOUIE’S CHALLENGE

In addition to the entry fee, we encourage each yacht to raise additional funds for Children’s Hospital. As a target, we request that each member of the crew contribute $20. The yacht raising the most funds will win an additional quarter barrel of Louie’s Demise Ale. In addition, the top three money-raising yachts will receive a special flag. The goal of this regatta is to have a LOT of fun and raise money for Children’s Hospital. Step up! Every cent of these additional funds will go directly to Children’s Hospital. Bring checks, cash and gold to the post regatta awards ceremony and party at the Milwaukee Ale House.

Thirst From Last Place receives a growler of Louie’s Demise Ale.

9.0 Safety

All yachts must comply with all appropriate United States Coast Guard and all other applicable government regs.

10.0 Bribes

To the direct benefit of Children's Hospital, boats humiliated by their performance on the race course may bribe the race committee to "pass" other yachts during the awards presentation and affect their final outcome. Minimum bribe - $20 per position. Sorry, no passing into First through Thirst place, or into Thirst From Last place. Bring your cash, your checkbook or your rare coin collection.

11.0 Good Manners and Sportsmanship

Breach of good manners or sportsmanship directed towards the race committee shall be subject to protest. If the protest is allowed, the yacht shall be disqualified from the race and drinking privileges revoked. Legitimate complaints should be directed through the race committee chairman.
