Short Tack: Clipper Needs Help
Available on line at:
http://www.torresen.com/news/atwos/2002/my/0515/st.htm

The Clipper Ship Cutty Sark, launched in 1869, is now a dry
land museum ship in Greenwich England. Not surprisingly, as
with most watery craft, the Cutty Sark needs some
maintenance.

Leaks in the main deck have run into the bilge causing
electro-chemical decay in the wood keel. It maybe possible
to solve the problem via electrolysis. However, since the
ship is a composite of wood and metal it is not certain if
this will work. If this does not work the ship will need to
be disassembled for the keel to be worked on. Plans are to
replace the deck also.
