Recently Torresen Marine added a pair of recent vintage
Catalina 320's to our sailboat brokerage list. One is a
1994, the other a 1997. The '94 is equipped with hot water
and a Dutchman system. The '97 is a wing keel version.
Both can be viewed in Muskegon.

Short Tack: Muskegon One Design

For the Melges 24 fleet, the Chicago Mac is not an option.
Some of the Mumm 30's sail the Mac, but most sit it out.
These two competitive one design fleets gathered on Muskegon
Lake for a weekend of post Mac racing.

12 Melges 24's and 6 Mumm 30's sailed for 2 days completing
7 races each. Conditions were hot, winds moderate with
shifts to keep things challenging.

Narrowly topping the Melges fleet was Snow Pile Express with
Flying Toaster 2nd by 3 points. 3 points was the common
number as 3rd and 4th place were both separated by 3 points
also.

The Midwest Melges 24 fleet has now sailed 4 events in their
season series. Flying Toaster leads Hot Tuna by just 1
point.

Fuzzy Logic won 4 of 7 races to take the Mumm 30 fleet by 6
points over Team Intermec.

Short Tack: Top of the Lakes Regatta

For the 3rd year the Level 35 class convened in Cheboygan
MI for a weekend of racing. Rather than on the Lake
Michigan side, Cheboygan is on Michigan's Lake Huron coast.

A combination of J 35's and T 35's totaling 16 sailed 7
races over 2 days. 5 boats hailed from Lake Michigan with
bulk being Lake Huron boats. There were a variety of
conditions from easterly to shifty winds that necessitated
a shortened course.

Race 6 on Sunday saw a man overboard incident as a Bad Dog
crew went over. The crew was picked up by Bretwalda, which
was granted redress.

This years winner was Sociable a J 35 from Milwaukee.
Sociable won 3 races, including a 2 race winning streak.

2nd was Mr. Bill's Wild Ride with Touch of Grey edging Dark
Star by 1 point for 4th.
