Short Tack: RORC Alters Regs

The Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) of England has added some
specific safety instructions to their races. The RORC is
organizer of the Fastnet, Admirals and Commodore's Cup.

They have altered their safety regulations as follows:

5.01.3 A harness and lifejacket shall be worn
a) between the hours of sunset and sunrise
b) when alone on deck
c) when reefed
d) when the true wind speed is 25 knots or above
e) when the visibility is less than one nautical mile

It will be interesting to see if other sailing groups adopt
similar regulations.
