In February a boat became stranded off Indonesia located north of
Australia in the Southern Hemisphere. A British passenger onboard
sent a text message via her mobile phone that read: "Call Falmouth
Coastguard we need help, SOS."
Sitting at an English pub her boyfriend contacted the coastguard.
They coordinated a rescue with the Indonesian authorities and the
Australian Coastguard. Eventually the sinking boat was towed safely
to harbor.
