Short Tack: Admiral's Cup
When the April 2nd entry deadline for this summer's Admiral's
Cup arrived there were only 2 entered countries: the United Kingdom
and France. Due to this lack of response, the event organizer, the
Royal Ocean Racing club, has cancled this biennial event often
considered the world championship of offshore racing.
The RORC believes that the event will come back in a different
form in 2003. The RORC will announce 2003 plans by the end of this
year.
The RORC will run a regatta for one design boats from July
19-22, 2001. Plans are to provide racing for a number of classes
including Farr 52s, IC45s, Sydney 40s, Farr 40s, Mumm 30s and other
classes with sufficient numbers.
