Available on line at:
http://www.torresen.com/atwos/2001/ag/0801/st.htm
In addition to being perhaps the worlds most popular sailing
star Ellen Macarthur has now firmly established herself
amongst the great Trans Atlantic Sailors.

In 1998 she sailed Pete Goss' Open 50 to a Class II victory
and 5th overall in the Route de Rum. In 1999 sailing with
Yves Parlier in the Jacques Vabre Transat 6th was their
results.

In 2000 she debuted with Kingfisher in the Europe 1 Transat
and was first. Finally, this week she sailed into the
Chesapeake Bay 1st on Leg 3 of the EDS Challenge a crewed race
for Open 60's.
Total time of these voyages: 70 days.
Formats: twice single handed, once double handed and
one fully crewed.
Ellen takes the master of the Transat title from Thomas
Coville who was the winner in the Route de Rum and Jacques
Vabre.
However, in the 2000 Transat he dismasted and this year he
did not compete.
