Samson, the worldwide leader in performance cordage, announces a number of organizational changes in its commercial marine division implemented to deliver improved sales and technical support to its customers around the globe.
Dennis Sherman, a fifteen-year veteran of the Samson sales team, has been promoted to director of sales for its offshore division. Previously the offshore category manager, Sherman has been integral in developing the Samson offshore business model, and has an extensive technical background in synthetic rope applications. In recent years, he has focused on Samson’s international tug business, as well as making a significant impact on the growth of the company’s mooring business. “Dennis brings a unique skill set to this position. In addition to being a very successful sales manager for us, Dennis has the technical expertise to partner with our customers in developing custom solutions for the unique and demanding applications of the offshore industry,” say Samson President Tony Bon. Sherman holds a bachelor-of-science degree in business from the University of South Carolina. He works from his regional office in Statham, Georgia.
European and Middle Eastern Commercial Marine Sales
In further support of its European and Middle Eastern commercial marine customers, Samson announces the promotion of Robin Collett to general sales manager for these markets, and the addition of Giles Tennick as sales engineer.
Collett has been with Samson for four years and has a total of twenty-seven years in the rope industry. “Robin is valuable to us for a number of reasons: he has expertise in rope applications and experience in a variety of markets. He has proven valuable to us in the expansion of our tug, mooring and offshore business in the European and Middle Eastern region,” says Bon. Collett has a degree in business from the University of Northampton and works from his regional office in East Sussex, England.
Joining forces with Collett to serve the Europe and the Middle East regions is Giles Tennick, who will provide both sales and engineering support to these customers. “Delivering The Samson Advantage, a host of services that go above and beyond a standard rope sale, is a critical part of our business,” says Collett. “Having engineering expertise more readily available in this region will allow us to better support our customers with custom design and application-specific product education.”
Tennick recently retired from the UK Army with nine years experience as a maintenance-engineering manager. He will work out of his home-based office in Chesterfield, UK.
