Updates from the Michigan Coastline
As the fleet continues toward the Michigan shoreline we continue to get more reports.
At 5pm race time – “Nice Pair is going well along the beach just north of Ludington. Very light breeze. no wnd out on the Lake. SS Badger pulling in. Jet skis. Warmer & sun.”
Also heard from Nice Pair at 6:10 rt – “About 250 meters off the each in 8 ft depth @ Hamlin Lake State park. Ghosting along @ 3 kts. Tourists on beach just love it. Waving.” At 6:15 – “100 meters off Big Sable Light”
I sure hope you guys are taking pictures!! We will see if we can post some in the near future.
Beneteau 40.7 – Turning Point: 6pm rt: “Had decent wind all afternoon, 6-8 knots. Currently becalmed along with 150+ boats around us.”
From Runaway – Andrews 68 – Turbo Section – “Well we’re in te typical Chicago mac weather no wind. We have traded places with out closest competitor equation. They are about a mile closer to shore and we are both sailing with staysails. We are working with about half a sail inventory so no proper light air sail for these condition. The talisman is also abeam and 1/2 mile closer to shore they have a pretty nice a1 and upwind code zero which has helped them keep pace for sure.
It’s a slow go we have just hit 1.6 on the speed meter so that’s better than triple zeros.”
