The 2007 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, starting from Sydney Harbour at 1.00pm on Boxing Day, December 26, will be the 63rd annual race conducted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, the nation’s premier ocean racing club.
No yachting event in the world attracts such huge media coverage every year and this year with a lot of international competitors racing Sail-World’s coverage of this iconic event will be more intense than ever before.
Peter Campbell, who has covered the race for more than 20 years and Rob Kothe, Sail-World’s Managing Editor, both know the race well and their reports will detail the tactics, the drama, colour, excitement , with images and words from Andrea Francolini and Crosbie Lorimer. Additionally we will run all the content from Lisa Ratcliff and the Rolex Sydney Hobart media team.
We will be streaming video coverage from the Skipper’s briefings, on December 24th and 26th December and will also stream the audio coverage from the Sailors Radio team on Race Day.
The pre-race activity is hotting up. On Tuesday it’s the Big Boat Challenge, when some of the Line Honours favorites will blast around Sydney Harbour and then this week many of the Handicap contenders will be sailing off Sydney Heads in the Rolex Trophy – Rating Series on Thursday 13, Friday 14, Saturday 15, Sunday 16 December.
