Fight to the Finish

It appears inevitable that Pirates of the Caribbean (Paul Cayard) will sprint over the finish line in 3rd place. They are currently sailing at a respectable boat speed of 9 knots with only 50 miles to go.

As the trailing three boats wiggle their way up the Chesapeake, Brasil 1 (Torben Grael) is desperately trying to defend their 1 mile lead over Ericsson (John Kostecki). With ABN AMRO TWO (Sebastien Josse) a further 10 miles behind Ericsson, they also have the potential to catch up and fight back.

The minefield of fickle winds, adverse local currents, crab pots and sand banks suggests the last day of Leg 5 could prove to be a very interesting fight to the finish for 4th, 5th place and 6th place.
