A Waiting Game

During the last 6 hours, all bar one have made gains on the leader ABN AMRO ONE (Mike Sanderson). Whilst movistar (Bouwe Bekking) has slipped back by 1 mile, the other four teams have advanced at a steady pace. Pirates of the Caribbean (Paul Cayard) caught up by 8 miles, Ericsson (John Kostecki) by 10 miles, ABN AMRO TWO (Sebastien Josse) 11 miles and Brasil 1 (Torben Grael) 14 miles.

It looks like the following boats are finally enjoying the stronger winds that catapulted the front runners even further into the lead yesterday.

The V70’s at the back of the fleet will now have to wait patiently for the leading boats ABN AMRO ONE and movistar to hit the next ridge of high pressure some time later today. This could enable the fleet to squeeze together again if only for a short while and with plenty more tactical decisions yet to be made, anything could happen in the next 712 miles to the finish.
