Leader of the Pack

ABN AMRO ONE (Mike Sanderson) is back on top, leading the fleet as they race towards the scoring gate at Fernando de Noronha, off Recife in Brazil. Pirates of the Caribbean is now equal with ABN AMRO TWO (Sebastien Josse), just four miles behind the black boat. ABN AMRO TWO has lost a mile, while Ericsson (John Kostecki) has gained one in the last six hours.

Brasil 1 (Torben Grael) and movistar (Bouwe Bekking) have both opted for a more inshore course, which, at present, is not paying off. They have lost nine and eight miles respectively in the lighter and more unstable breeze, slipping 22 miles behind the leading group and Brasil 1 is now sailing two knots slower than the more easterly Pirates of the Caribbean.

Cabo de Sao Tome is 36 miles to the east of Brasil 1 as the fleet sails on starboard gybe on a broad reach, just the conditions that ABN AMRO ONE enjoys.
