Shoreacres, Texas - Three…two…one…blast off! That familiar sound from nearby NASA Johnson’s Space Center is also the scoreline of Olympic hopeful Sally Barkow’s (Nashotah, Wis.) race results today at US SAILING’s Rolex International Women’s Keelboat Championship. With a total score of 11 points, Barkow and her team – Debbie Capozzi, Annie Lush and Amanda Callahan – lead the 39-boat fleet racing out of the Houston Yacht Club in Shoreacres, Texas. (more…)
Share or bookmark this story:Portsmouth, R.I. - When racing starts at the U.S. Championship of Champions this Thursday, October 18 at Mission Bay Yacht Club in San Diego, Calif., the starting line will be packed with familiar names from across the country’s one-design sailing community. This should be no surprise, the event - which wraps up on Saturday, October 20 - is known as one of the toughest one-design competitions since it brings together the country’s top 19 one-design sailors of all ages who have won major events in their respective one-design classes in the last year. The Championship, sponsored by Rolex Watch U.S.A. and Dry Creek Vineyard, is held in a different one-design boat every year in a different part of the country. (more…)

Portsmouth, R.I. – Applications for the 2008 US Elite Youth Development Sailing Team are now being accepted. Launched by US SAILING in January 2007, the Elite Youth Development Team was created for young athletes who have been identified as future Olympic prospects.

Portsmouth, R.I. - US SAILING’s 2008 Youth World Qualifier Regatta, a new multi-class event that will determine the sailors who will represent the U.S. at the 2008 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF (International Sailing Federation) World Championship, will be hosted this January by the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club of Long Beach, California.
