1996 Yachting® Key West Race Week

Michigan / Chicago Participants

The 1996 Yachting Key West Race week expects a record turn out. Participation should reach nearly 250 boats from around the world.

Started in 1988, the race has become the premier sailing event of the mid-winter. It's the place to be if you want to race against the best. Top international competitors, cutting edge technology, warm weather and a great wind combine for some of the best sailing in the world.

This year the dominant one-design class at Key West will be the Melges24. The first Melges hit Key West in 1993 as a prototype. In 1995 over 60 sailed. Some expect nearly 90 Melges to take part in 1996.

Watch here for Key West coverage with an emphasis on the West Michigan and Chicago, Ill. area.
