DR. MILGRAM JOINS YOUNG AMERICA DESIGN TEAM Former America3 Design Director To Consult on Aerodynamics and Sail Design SOUTH PORTLAND, ME, June12, 1997-Dr. Jerome H. "Jerry" Milgram, the design director for the 1992 and 1995 America3 programs, has joined the NYYC/Young America Challenge design team as a consulting designer in the area of aerodynamics and sail design, John Marshall, president of the NYYC/Young America Challenge announced today. Milgram, a professor of naval architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was design director for the two technically advanced America3 programs. Under his leadership, the America3 program produced breakthrough designs, including 1992 America's Cup winner America3 . "While Jerry's focus will be the aerodynamic side of the equation, his incredible depth of talent and experience will allow him to contribute to all aspects of our program including Computational Fluid Dynamics, VPP codes, tank and wind tunnel testing and two-boat testing," said Marshall. "We are proud to have a scientist and naval architect of Jerry's caliber join our team of design professionals." |
