Bayview Yacht Club and Chicago Yacht Club announce a new sailboat race from Port Huron, MI, to Chicago, IL. This race will occur on July 15, 2000. The course will run from Lower Lake Huron to a newly established buoy off Southampton, Ontario, onto Mackinac Island, MI, and across the Straits of Mackinac to Gray's Reef and down the length of Lake Michigan to Chicago. The course length is 600 statute miles (521 nm).
This event is concurrent with the Annual Bayview Yacht Club Race to Mackinac. Entrants in the Bayview Mackinac Race will have the option to continue thru its finish onto Chicago.
It will be the 76th running of the Bayview Mackinac Race, the 25th anniversary of the original and only Bayview to Chicago Race and the 125th anniversary of the Chicago Yacht Club.
In a survey of past participants over 80 respondents stated they would enter
this event. IMS and PHRF rating divisions will be created. Notice of Race and
Invitations to enter this event will be sent to last year's Mackinac Race
