Short Tack: Montego Bay Preview

This Friday the 2001 Pineapple Cup/Montego Bay race will start.
The 811-mile course runs from the start, off Port Everglades Florida,

Passage to Montego Bay Jamaica.
The fleet's big boats will be after one of the oldest records
in ocean racing. The course record is 3 days, 3 hours 40 minutes and
7 seconds. This was set 29 years ago by the 70-foot mono hull
Windward Passage.
Among the potential record breakers are: Pyewacket and
Zephyrus IV both designed by Reichel/Pugh, Trader and Magnitude both
Andrews designs, and Sagamore.

Short Tack: Laser Online

As Western Michigan goes through a meltdown phase, green grass
is occasionally seen. Can't help but think of a fleet of Lasers
sitting on green grass waiting to sail in the midst of summer.
If you're a Laser owner, the Torresen Sailing Site has several
items that can help you be ready to sail in 2001.
One is our Laser Direct Parts catalog. Here you can order all
the needed items such as hiking straps, boom vangs, board bags and
more. Take a look at your boat now. Make a list of what you need to
be sail ready. Head to http://www.torresen.com/laser and place your
order. Then when spring comes, you'll have no worries about going
sailing.
Second is the Sail Coach Laser 2000 Simulator. This CD ROM
features video clips and a full multi media approach to improving
your skills. Produced by coaches with Olympic experience and featuring
Medallist Robert Scheidt this will give you an edge on the race course. See http://www.torresen.com/marketplace/sailcoach/default.htm for more.
