Fila is on schedule to cross the finish line tomorrow morning. With this return to Charleston SC Giovanni Solidni will be the winner of Around Alone.
Fleet Round Up:
Fila's lead is 235 miles. Distance to the finish is 211 miles. From onboard Fila Soldini reports, "Were following the edge of the high pressure zone to our right. Soon well be making for terra ferma. Fila is making for land at 8.2 knots.
Somewhere will not be able to pull off a late victory. Still Somewhere will one of only two Class I boats to finish.
Magellan Alpha leads Class II by 263 miles. With almost a 5 knot speed advantage over Cray Valley Mike Garside looks more and more victorious.
Cray Valley is 2nd. At this point in the race J.P. says: "Very simple strategy really: how the hell can I get to Charleston before Mike does?"
Next is the first of the 40 foot Class II entries, Wind of Change. Wind of Change is 654 miles back.
Shuten Dojhi II shows in 4th place again.
www.no-barriers.com is back to 5th place. Neal Petersen reports despite a bilge full of water and his food shortage he sailed No Barriers 189 miles in 24 hours.
Paladin 2 is 1677 miles back. From Paladin Neil Hunter messages "And Ive finally got into reading a book that takes the cake as the worst book I have ever read. Pure drivel. I will attempt to persevere but there is a good chance it will go for a swim sometime today."
Balance Bar is back racing and trails the lead boats by 1775miles. Balance Bar is fastest in the fleet at 9.9 knots.

Giovanni Soldini will become only the 3rd man to win Around Alone joining 2 time victors Phillipe Jeanot and Christophe Augin.
