Around Alone Report February 16-Autissier onboard Fila

Fila and Soldini diverted to assist

At 1437 GMT, Giovanni Soldini sent a message to Race Control that he had Isabell Autissier on board. Soldini reports that she is OK.  In additon Autissier's shore crew based in France has communicated with her and confirms that she has no medical problems.

The resuce occured at 54 degrees south 58.8 minutes south latitude, 125 degrees 46.9 minutes west longitude.  At the time of the rescue PRB was still afloat, and Soldini took Autissier aboard Fila.  Winds at the time of rescue were 25 knots out of the southwest.

Fila completed the rescue despite not being the closest boat to PRB. Leader Somewhere was closer, but was unable to undertake the mission.   This due to boom gooseneck problems.

Shortly after rescuing Isabelle, Giovanni Soldini sent the following message: "Hello, Fila here. Have Isa inboard with me.  Isa and I are going back to the race. Gio."

Forecasts for gale force winds to hit the area where Fila and her 2 person crew are.  Today, Fila will be striving to get away from the bad weather.
