No Barriers finishes Leg 3

At 2111 GMT (1411 eastern) Neal Petersen sailed his red hulled 40 footer No Barriers across the Leg 3 finish line.  Neal sailed the 5960 mile leg from Auckland to Punta Del Este in 46 days 22 hours 11 minutes and 40 seconds an average of 5.29.  No Barriers takes 7th overall, 5th in Class II and is the fleets 2nd 40 footer to finish. 

Fleet Round Up:

www.no-barriers.com   has now finished a voyage that she began during Leg 4 of the previous Around Alone.   Neal describes this voyage: "this 4-year solo-circumnavigation concluded today at 21:14. Since leaving Punta in April 1994, my actual time at sea going from Punta to Charleston, Charleston to Cape Town, Cape Town to Auckland then returning to sea was 195 days."   During Leg 3 Neal rounded Cape Horn a childhood dream, ""The biggest moment was seeing the Horn. There was nothing that prepared me for the sight of Cape Horn." 

Next is Shuten Dojhi II.   Shuten lies 232 miles  from the finish.  Shuten is expected to finish Saturday. 

Paladin 2 comes next 620 miles   from the finish.  Neil Hunter says, "I have flipped charts and the one on the table has Punta del Este clearly marked. Quite exciting."  Reported winds near Paladin 2 are SW at over 20 knots.

What does it all mean ?

To Neal Petersen after completing his long held dream of circumnavigating it means, "You too can sail the oceans of life, and circumnavigate the world you have chosen to live in. In life there are no barriers, only solutions. Be a part of the solutions."
