Around Alone Report for November 9

With 833 miles to Cape Town the 50 foot Rapscallion III leads the remaining Around Alone fleet.  Next comes South Carolina 1209 miles from Cape Town.

South Carolina's Robin Davie is repairing sails.  His inner jib is now done.  Next up is the asymetrical spinnaker, that ripped when the rudder broke.  As he sews, Robin thinks back to Miss Oates his elementary school teacher.  Again coventional wisdom Miss Oates had Robin learn to sew.  Robin felt this a bit rediculous, "but for three trips around the   world I've been finding out just how  valuable Miss Oates sewing class's were,   and I never lift the palm and needle without a passing thought to her."

The first 40 footer is Wind of Change, 1251 miles out of Cape Town.  It looks like Wind of Change will soon overhaul South Carolina (50 feet, but without a rudder).

www.no-barriers comes next, 1282 miles out of South Africa.  In No Barrier's portion of the ocean, it rained and so Neal Petersen: "and I stayed in my rack."

Shuten Dojhi II follows No Barriers.  Shuten is 1494 miles from the finish.  Next is Paladin 2 2207 mile sout. Paladin 2's Neil Hunter cheerfully reports: "As they say in Charleston "See y'all later, gater."

The last yacht in the fleet is the Class I Modern University for the Humanities.  MUH is 2364 miles from Charleston.
