Around Alone Report for November 1

Somewhre is 3rd Class I Yacht to Cape Town

3 hours and 6 minutes after 2nd place PRB came fellow French yacht SomewhereSomewhere's official leg time was:  35 days 00 hours 41 minutes 10 seconds.  A dissapointed Marc Thiercelin docked without his shore crew, and had no comment on the leg.  Of course, Somewhere led much of the leg, eventually to succumbing to rips in both main and genoa.  This situation was driven home as Somewhere crossed the finish line her mainsail ripped and is now totalled.

The next boat expected to arrive in Cape Town is Gartmore.   Josh Hall is expected Tuesday, followed by Fila who has an ETA of Wednesday.

All of Class II is still racing towards Cape Town. Cray Valley still leads.  Currently 2nd place Balance Bar is 125 miles behind.  Cray Valley is making good progress sailing at 10.8 knots on a course of 082 degrees.  Balance Bar is sailing at 9.8 knots.

In 3rd is Magellan Alpha 182 miles out of the lead.  Next is the rudderless South Carolina, who is still sailing at reduced speed.  Rapsacllion III comes next 1226 miles out, followed by www.no-barriers.com 1455 miles behind.  Shuten Dojhi still leads Wind of Change by 22 miles.  Wind of Change has a speed advantage so may be able to pass Shuten Dojhi II.  Finally comes Paladin 2 2048 miles back.
