At 04.36 hours this morning (AEST) Kanga and his crew mate Unai crossed the finis line in New Plymouth one and half hours ahead of theinearest rival, the catamaran "Inside Multihulls Mag". His time was 5 days 16 hours and he has smashed the monohull race record by 1 day and 19 hours, AND the previous multihull record by 1 day and 5 hours. This is a tremendous acheivement for Kanga and the result has proved his belief that the design of his new Open 60 Class is one of the fastest yachts of its type in the world! Of course he had help from the weather conditions which made for a smooth crossing. After a few days rest Kanga and Unai will make their way back to Sydney where he will be hosting a reception for the sponsors of his communications system: Westinghouse and Optus MobileSat. Kanga is now looking for a main sponsor to name his boat for the next big challenge: The Around Alone Race in September this year!
