Around Alone NewsSponsors Secured and Needed American entry Ocean Planet has reached a cruical point in fundraising. According to skipper Bruce Schwab, "I cannot make the start of the Around Alone without some more help and an influx of cash....." Contributions are being accepted online. Another American Bob Adams has not had sponsorship success either. It seems unlikely his 40 footer will be on the starting line Better news for Canadian sailor John Dennis. He has secured backing from Ascensia which produces self-management diabetes monitors and services. Dennis is a type 2 diabetic adding a remarkable aspect to his Around Alone entry. At months end he will begin his qualifying voyage from Newport RI to the Azores and back. Dennis will sail the Open 50 formerly known as Great Circle.
