Around Alone News

Tauranga, New Zeland has been chosen as the finishing point for the 1st Around Alone Southern Ocean leg which starts in Cape Town.  

Tauranga is located in the Bay of Plenty region on New Zealand's East coast, some 250km south of Auckland.  

In Maori  Tauranga means 'Safe Anchorage'.  This will be the first time Around Alone has visited Tauranga.  Previously the lone sailors had stopped in Sydney and Auckland.  Arrival is estimated on 28 December of this year, with the restart on 26 January 2003
