Andrew Darwent sailed his Open 50 Heart of England into Falmouth England Thursday nite. This ended his chance at competing in this years Around Alone race.
Darwent returned to England due to the fact that both the yacht's rudders were damaged in storms. It's not all bad, as this will allow Andy his first weekend off in two years !
He won't rest long, as Monday will see him at Southampton Boat show trying to find sponsors. This is Britain's biggest boat show. He hopes to have sponsors in place to race in November's Route de Rhum trans atlantic race.
Darwent believes the boat is fast, and that the rudder problem is a minor fix. If he wasn't so rushed at the end, the rudders would have been better.
Seeing as how Darwent had the determination to build the boat himself, I am sure we have not seen the last of Andy Darwent.
