Bad News For Neil Hunter

Thursday nite, threatening weather hit Charleston and the assembled Around Alone fleet.  The weather was courtesy of Hurricane Earl.

Unfournatly this weather did cause damage.   During the storm Around Alone competitor Neil Hunter's Paladin II was dismasted.   What bad luck to have sailed her on her own bottom from Australia and then to lose the mast in a freak dockside accident.

Needless to say Neil is in need of a new mast so he can make the September 26th start.  If you know of a mast that would fit a Farr 40 please call the Arond Alone Office at 843 853 1500.  If you wish to send a donation you can mail them to the following address:  Neil Hunter C/O Around Alone 478 East Bay Charleston SC 29403.

In addition Paladin's mast fell onto Robin Davies South Carolina.  This caused damage to Davie's South Carolina.  Davie feels the damage is easily repairable.  Still, this is another setback for the South Carolina campaign.  Davie still needs to complete his 2000 mile qualifying voyage.
