The damage report is in. Mike Golding's Class I entry Group 4 was damaged when it was blown off its cradle August 31st.
The main aspect of the damage is a 5 foot by 5 foot hole near the stern. This is more cosmetic than structural damage. A new panel is being made by JVM Industries in France. This is the company that built the boat. This item will be flown to Charleston for installation.
Also, damaged were a deck spreader and a rudder. The team has a spare rudder on hand, and can construct the spreader locally. Some of the boats electronics may need recalibaration.
The goal for Group 4 is to be back in the water and sailing on Sunday September 20th, 6 days before the start of Around Alone.
