H's are Wild

Date=August 18

Current Around Alone News is filled with guys whose name begins with 'H'.  Australian Neil Hunter has completed his 13,000 mile voyage to Charleston from Australia.  He sailed his Farr 40 Paladin to Charleston and is now continuing preperations.  Neil has become mates with fellow Around Alone entrant Neal Petersen of www.no-barriers.com

Meanwhile earlier this month Brian Hancock and his Open 50 Great Circle finished their solo qualifying voyage Augst 2nd in Bermuda.  This is one hurdle down for Hanock's quest.  But as he states: "There is huge amount to do   before the race starts in September," noted Hancock. "I am not sure how the  work is going to get done with the limited funds we have." Hancock was referring to the need for new sails, the addition of an inboard engine, new  auto pilots and a number of other maintenance jobs. The search for  sponsorship continues and the campaign continues to remain on track , although as the campaign slogan reads, "Goals are dreams with a deadline".

Today marks 1 month and 8 days to go before the start of Around Alone.  Torresen Sailing Site plans to be in Charleston to cover the start and all of the activities leading up to it.  If there is an aspect of Around Alone you would like covered or a question you would like asked please let us know.  To submit your Around Alone question or query please send e-mail to: around_alone@torresen.com
